Chortling

Did you know that "chortle" is a word? I feel like I am learning new words every day but this one I learned from my apartment mate Amy when she explained her laugh as a "chortle."

According to Merrian- Webster:

1 : to sing or chant exultantly chortled in his joy — Lewis Carroll

2 : to laugh or chuckle especially in satisfaction or exultation

So would it be weird to use the word chortle in everyday conversation now? I may just try it and find out.
