(1) the people! I miss walking around Grounds, Downtown, or Barracks and just seeing lots of people - people I know and people I don't know - and yet somehow they all look familiar just by being a Cvillian.
(2) local coffee If you want a cup of joe in Northern VA your options are Starbucks or Caribou Coffee. Note to self: buy beans when in cville and bring them here to make your own coffee.
(3) porch life last night while talking to my friend Arley, she mentioned that someone was setting off fireworks in the middle of 14th street, to which she sighed that sometimes she feels like a cranky old woman for not wanting to be kept awake by the crackling and popping noises. Mmm well don't get me wrong, I love that my house is out in the woods but sometimes, I miss the spectacle of porch life.
(4) my apartment which is no more. It definitely felt like home. And now being home-home feels like a temporary visit. I'm feeling a little displaced.
(5) spontaneity I miss walking over to a friend's place just because or getting a meal at Guad or walking into Para and knowing I won't get any work done that day. Most hanging out up here requires a degree of planning.
Some things
ReplyDeleteStart a container garden
Hit the gym hard
and come down to cville for weekly dinners/world cup.
Also I can put you to work for 0.50/hr as a personal assistant if that would convince your parents to allow you to do that. I need someone to call these medical schools every hour until they let me in
