Yesterday evening, a group of close friends from my high school graduating class joined together out on a farm in Castleton, VA where my good friend Everett hosted an outdoor dinner on his family's farm. Some essential members of our group were missing (b/c they are galavanting across Europe somewhere) but 5 of us who had been friends for much of high school got to spend the afternoon together talking about graduation, the summer/coming year and whatever dirt we knew on other people from our year. Some of our parents came too, so that was a fun little added treat since many of them hadn't seen each other in 4 years - since the last time we all graduated together.
Everett threw together a paella which he cooked over an open fire pit. The food was amazing! I think everyone was impressed but also not surprised. Of course he would make a great meal. I think it beats the paella I had in Spain. One of my friends even went back for 3rds after dessert! yumm.
Overall it was a phenomenal evening, out away from it all and spending time with people that have meant a lot to me over the years.
