A lie we are all made to believe is true.

This is not a new realization by any means but sometimes an ugly reminder unveils the truth that we live in a world that constantly tells us that we aren't good enough.

Daily, we are compared - and compare ourselves - to those in hollywood, those around us in the classroom or workplace, and even the average joe on the sidewalk. Sometimes we get the false sense of feeling better than another and for that brief moment, perhaps one can feel on top of the world. But other times we subject ourselves to the dangerous feeling of being subordinate to others and fall into a deep funk. In truth, neither is an adequate look on life. And yet, I really think that we, as 20-something year olds in the U.S. are made to believe all sorts of lies about ourselves.

You aren't tall enough. You aren't small enough. You're not pretty enough. You aren't smart enough. He just isn't into you. She thinks you talk too much. No wait, you don't talk enough. You eat too fast. You take too long to make decisions. You don't listen carefully enough. You slur your words, even when sober. You got a sell out job. You were only hired/accepted because you knew someone.

You...just...aren't...good...enough. It really is an unfortunate thing to believe.
