Professor and Mentor

While chomping down on some quality Christians Avocado/Feta pizza (you know it's the best!), Lauren made a keen reflection saying "I'm really going to miss my professors here."

We've all had our fair share of mediocre teachers, even good teachers, but it's those challenging and insightful ones that make such a lasting impression. Friday morning, I had a series of appointments w/ my thesis advisor and ucs in order to try to figure out my future (only to leave me more confused).

Each time I meet with my advisor, Brian Owensby, I walk into his office somehow unsure of myself and/or my writing and walk out with more work to do and think of... but all the while feeling so awed from being in his presence. Professor Owensby is by far my favorite professor at the University. He speaks with such intention, is passionate about his field of study and cares for his students in a genuine manner. While discussing my ominous future, he told me he was giving me the advise that he will give his daughter when she is in my shoes, and I could truly feel the sincerity in his words.

I hope that his office hours match up with my schedule next semester so that I can pop in and just talk about life and not just work. He's one of those professors that I would love to be in touch with for a long time after graduation.
