activities fair, auditions, and picnics

With just one day until the beginning of classes, there was a large to-do list growing on my desk. Today was the day to get *some* of that done, but certainly not all of it. This morning I headed to the activities fair, an overwhelming space of clubs and organizations with computing id's and names flying through the air. I found myself even putting my name down for some random booths including knitting!!! ha. It's something that I want to learn how to do but wow, did I really just sign up for that?

For much of the day I helped man the Nicaraguan Orphan Fund booth which was pretty fun. I really do love talking about Nicaragua, though quite honestly when I think of the children there that I love and miss a lot, it's my kids from Cedro and Chiqui, and not so much the orphanages...perhaps because I got to spend more time with the kids during Manna.

Also at the A-fair, my friend Anne and I signed up for auditions with University Singers. One night at a U-Singers concert second year, Anne and I had promised each other we'd try out by the time we graduated and she reminded me of this fact this morning. So our time's running out...we signed up.

After a quick/spontaneous lunch w/ a couple dudes, I headed back on grounds for the audition. It was not my best for sure. I had been talking all morning and my voice was feeling raspy. I'm pretty certain I didn't make it and I likely won't even go check the call backs list but at least I can say that I tried out.

This evening I went to the RUF welcome back picnic. It was surely a good time: seeing loads of friends, good food, amazing sweet tea, and meeting new peeps too. I hope I can attend RUF mtngs later this semester.

Well tomorrow's the first day of 4th year...last first day of college...the beginning of the end...I think I should go buy some grapes to celebrate.
